AvioPolska sp. z o.o. is a part of AVIO international industrial group, a leader in the aerospace industry. The company launched its operation in 2001 in Bielsko-Biała as a part of FiatAvio Polska, and from 2003 onwards the Avio Group, including AvioPolska, has become an entity independent from Fiat.
AvioPolska focuses its activity on manufacturing carried out in the Manufacturing Center and R&D activity pursued by its own Research and Development Center. In 2006 also the Office of Sales and Marketing was opened in Warsaw.

In the Manufacturing Center in Bielsko-Biała, blades of rotors and stators for aeroengines turbines are manufactured.
The center is equipped with high-precision numerically controlled machine tools, automated stands for heat treatment and surface treatment, automated line for non-destructive testing with use of fluorescent penetrants (FPI) and a high-quality measuring machine - DEA.
Due to these advanced technological assets and highly qualified personnel we can offer the following services:
|
Currently we manufacture |
Rotor Blades of low-pressure turbines for the engines:
|
|
We plan to manufacture |
Blades and vanes for the engines:
|

The Manufacturing Center is to perform in the future also maintenance, overhaul and repair of jet engines for aviation, navy and industrial sector. The company, by selling propulsion and control systems for maritime purposes, significantly supports AVIO's commercial activity, in particular in the central part of Europe.
There are over 70 engineers employed in the Research and Development Center. They work in the following teams:
In the computational center based on computational servers there is MSC Patran/Nastran/Marc/Pthermal, Ansys, Unigraphics software used, as well as our own tools for fatigue analyses, dynamic characteristics analysis etc.
Scope of works performed by the Design Department comprises:
The facility in Bielsko is still developing. We plan to increase manufacturing capability in the near future which will result in broadening offer of the Manufacturing Center, as well as services of repair provided by it. It will cause also an increase in competence and expertise of the Research and Development Center. The cooperation with Polish higher schools (Warsaw University of Technology, Military University of Technology, Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, University of Bielsko-Biała) have beneficial effects on making our company more innovative.

AvioPolska carries out reasearch and development and design works on prototypes of stators of the low-pressure turbine for the new-generation turbofan engine – Genx-2B. This is a significant event in the history of Polish aircraft industry because it has been long time when our country was a place where the newest aviation technology to be used in the whole world was created and implemented.
AvioPolska, as a company specializing in design and manufacture of components for turbine engines, will perform this task as a part of the international consortium lead by General Electric. Also Polish engineers of Avio and researchers of the University of Bielsko-Biała work on the project. GEnx-2B will be the most innovative aircraft engine in the world. It is purposed as a propulsion of the newest long-range aircraft Boeing 747-8, a successor of "Jumbo Jet" – the largest aircraft produced by the American Boeing company.
The technological solutions used in manufacture of the engine will be state-of-the-art, they outclass current level of technology and meet requirements of the goals set by the Advisory Council for Aeronautics Research in Europe (ACARE) with regard to noise and exhaust gas reduction. GEnX, designed pursuant to customers’ needs, is a great step forward in propulsion systems. The newest generation of materials and processes reducing weight, increasing performance and reducing engine maintenance costs during its operation will be used in construction of the engine.
Due to use of many innovative solutions in the engine (including those regarding research, design and manufacture of blades with new thermodynamic and strength characteristics), its qualities will be:
These engines will go into production in 2009, and the prototypes will be running already in 2008. Expected value of AvioPolska’s investments related to the research and development activities, designing and implementation to production is approximately Eur 10 mln. Participation of AvioPolska in this project means growth of employment and new sales estimated PLN 500 mln in 10 years.

On 30 January 2008, Avio concluded with Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 4 S.A (Military Aircraft Works www.wzl4.mil.pl ) a consortium under the name of the Polish Aeroengines Group POLONIA AERO. The main goal of the consortium is to face the needs of the Polish Air Force within the scope of overhauls of the newest western aircraft engines. This customer currently has not such service available in Poland and uses services of foreign companies.
AvioPolska is a member of the Polish Aerospace Technology Platform and cooperates with many institutions within the framework of the "Aviation Valley" and Federation of Aviation Companies of Bielsko. The company was awarded in 2004 a title of "Company of the Year" and won the Kobuz prize of the authorities of Bielsko-Biała.
AvioPolska is also ranked high in the lists of the most innovative companies – in 2006 was second in the ranking of the most innovative companies of Silesia region and ninth in Poland in the ranking of Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the magazine Gazeta Prawna.
The Company’s aim is to improve and refine its expertise in technology and increase production rate, as well as continued cooperation with local research centers and higher schools (universities and universities of technology) in domestic and international programs.
